ITINERARY

Day 1. Huaraz – Cebollapampa – Pisco Hut

We leave Huaraz at 7:00 am, drive to Yungay, then head to Quebrada Llanganuco, reaching Cebollapampa. From there, we start trekking with day packs to Refugio Perú hut.

Day 2. Pisco Hut – Pisco Summit Attempt – Pisco Hut

We begin our summit attempt at 1 am, having breakfast and preparing our gear. After about 3 hours through a moraine, we enter the glacier, where snow and ice lead us to the summit in another 4 to 5 hours. We then return to Base Camp or the hut to rest and have dinner.

Day 3. Pisco Hut – Cebollapampa – Chopicalqui Base Camp

After breakfast, we prepare and hike back to Cebollapampa, from where we continue our way to Chopicalqui base camp.

Day 4. Chopicalqui Base Camp – Moraine Camp

We begin our ascent with the help of the Porters towards the moraine camp (4900m) for 5 hours approx.

Day 5. Moraine Camp – High Camp

We continue our ascent along a rocky path for about 40 minutes. Afterward, we put on the necessary equipment and continue the climb for approximately 4 more hours, with the help of porters.

Day 6. High Camp – Summit Attempt – Base Camp

We wake up around midnight to continue our ascent towards the summit, which takes about 6 hours. Once at the top, we enjoy the stunning views before descending to High Camp, Moraine Camp, and possibly Base Camp.

Day 6. Base Camp – Huaraz

Hike down to the road, followed by a 4-hour drive back to Huaraz.

Basic mountaineering skills are essential.

Fitness and Acclimatization:

  • It is essential to be in excellent health, good physical condition, and properly acclimatized to the altitude.
Insurance:

  • Having suitable insurance is crucial for high altitude activities. Please ensure your policy has the appropriate level of coverage.

  • Outer jacket: waterproof with a hood (Gore-Tex)

  • Warm Hat: that covers your ears and fits under a helmet
