ITINERARY
Day 1: Huaraz – Portada Quilcayhuanca – YupanapampaWe begin our journey with a scenic one-hour drive to Quilcayhuanca Gate (3,650m). After getting organized, we continue our easy hike through the Quilcayhuanca Valley to Cruce Cayesh. From this point, we gradually ascend until we reach our campsite at Yupanapampa (4,250m).
Day 2: Yupanapampa - Cuchillacocha – Chocu Pass – Cojup Valley
Today, we tackle a big pass, but the effort is well worth it for the incredible views.
As we hike up, we are treated to stunning views of lakes like Laguna Tullpacocha and Laguna Chuchillacocha. After about five hours of walking, we reach the traverse between Quilcayhuanca and Cojup – Chocu Pass at 5,100m. From this point, we can admire the majestic peaks of Huapi, Pucaranra, Tullparaju, Andavite, Cayesh, Maparju, San Juan, Palcaraju, Ishinca, and Ranrapalca. After taking in the breathtaking views, we descend into the Cojup Valley, where we eventually reach our camp.
Day 3: Cojuy Valley – Portada Cojup – Huaraz
After breakfast, we begin a relaxed walk down the road, making our way out of the valley. The four-hour journey is filled with countless moments of turning around to admire the stunning mountain views behind until we reach the gate, where our car awaits to take us back to Huaraz.
